ICE WARRIORS 2D ANIMATED PROJECT
This project, will hopefully be a collaboration between tOy and I. I haven't really discussed the details with him. But my plan is to animate Episodes Two and Thee of the Ice Warriors project in Cosgrove Hall style, it's quite an ambitious plan. So for the moment I just want to do a test of the first scene to see if we can work together and get an efficient working work flow.
So, what I imagine we will do is something like this:
- I post a storyboard of images, showing the composition and number of shots that will be used in the scene. Along with a *roughtly* animated version using whatever material is available. Along with a list of assets that are needed for the scene, with assets that are already ready removed (or marked) off from the list. At the moment that is zero, so I imagine the first few scenes are going to be a bit of a slog. Sorry.
-So then tOy gets to have the good fun of creating the character images for the scene. I don't mind how long this takes really, we aren't working to any kind of deadline. I don't know if you want to create and break up the heads, mouth positions etc, or if you want me to. Whatever you prefer.
-Then when that is done, I will take away all those assets and animate the scene. I will create the background / foreground elements using screengrabs and other available material, and using the same photoshop filters- looks as Cosgrove Hall used in their "Invasion" animation.
-So, when that's done, I will prepare the next scene, and start the whole thing over. After a scene or two, I hope that while I am animating one scene, you will be creating the assets for the next scene.
What do you think? I think it should work, I am not in any kind of rush here. And of course if you need any reference material to work from, give me a shout!
EPISODE TWO- Scene One The first scene is very short, only about 17 seconds or so, however there is quite a lot of action, and the existing telesnaps don't match up to the camera script. So I have had to alter the listed shots. But hopefully it is in a way sympathetic to the original sequence. It's a very fast scene, so some of the notes might be a little hard to read.
This is a rough animated version of the scene with audio, showing the rough cutting, matching the audio and camera scripts as much as I can. I am not posting it on youtube to cut down on unwanted visitors. I am not sure on the code to imbed it:

Hopefully that gives you a good idea of what I want to do with the scene. The screengrabs don't have all the semi-animated shots obviously.
To save time, I have created a list of assets needed to put together the scene. I have marked what heads are 'animatable ones' although we don't see them move much or talk in this scene, they will be reused again, and again throughout the rest of the animation.
To save time, I have broken the assets up to heads and bodies, as the heads take much longer to create. If there are any scene specific poses- ie Jamie laying on the couch, I have reference the shot it comes from

Right- tOy let me know what you think, or if I have given you or I too much work. As I said at the top- I think we should do this scene as a test to see how we work together. If you want to pull out now it's not too late! If you post WIP images here that would be great, but obviously I would prefer it if you emailed me the fla files directly.
Cheers,
Aaron
