Anermay Studios - Animation & Mosion Graphics

« on: September 27, 2009, 11:40:05 AM »

hi all!
Well as some of you may and may not know I am the guy who's animating Christmas with the Enemy (CWTE)
it stars 2 Doctors the daleks and Davros himself!

Part One - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpT_4MAauCA
Part Two - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faB1Ksh3yIo&feature=related

Some of you may be wonderring where part 3 is? well thats why Iv started this as a topic! So I can show you updates as I work on it!  Smiley
Iv been working on other projects though out the year and now I can get back to work on the epic 3rd part to the adventure!
even today I locked off the final edit to the new and updated titles and am working on the new style of animation as parts 1 & 2 look too well digital to me, I want to do a mix between classic 2d animation made in flash and 3d animation from lightwave (with a big thanks to Richard B for showing me how to get a cartoon effect in lightwave!.)

so just thought Id see what you guys think of it so far and any tips or ideas on hoe to improve the animation for part 3.

  Watched part 2 only.

Good work. Brings the piece to life extremely well.

Has that Anime Studio look about it, perhaps a little "floaty," I've had the same trouble in my own work in Moho, which became Anime Studio.

One shortcoming, which has nothing to do with you, is that the piece itself is purely an audio piece really - there's not a great amount of action or movement in it, that you would expect from a piece if it were designed to be animated rather than on audio.

But you bring movement to it admirably.

Thank you very much!

Smiley Yes it was written to be an audio production, so parts one and two are very, well simple (the sitting around talking to one anouther all the time Wink ).
However i feel that the animation will become more visual in part 3, there is alot more action, explosions and  space ships, etc. (although thats not all what it should be about  Grin)

I did use anime studio but as you pointed out I wasn't a fan of the floating nature it added to the animation, so that is what Iv been working on for soo long, getting/ learning a new bit of animation software, e.g Flash.

Iv now done a small doctor who story featuring the cybermen in flash. "The Incursion" was also adaped from an audio, but it has a'lot more action a'lot sooner. Its also interesting to watch as you can see how i lernt new thigs in falsh at I worked on it

But any way thank you again it was nice to hear your thoughts! and I think yor one of the few people who have watched it and guested all about the animation behind it and got it right!  Grin

The "floatiness" of Anime Studio is something you can actually turn on and off to a certain degree. The animation is done on curves, and you can change your settings down in the timeline to be done in a linear fashion, like Flash. Or you can do a lot more keyframes to tone down the floatiness .....

But yes, it is something you wind up struggling with a bit.

Watched a bit of the Cybermen story - pretty well animated, although the artwork itself, particularly the Cybermen, is a bit crude and could use a cleanup. There's also a blurred effect between the frames - every frame goes into the next at 50% opacity, which I found very distracting.

   Well done though, overall.

Shocked Sorry for the longness scenes my last post but Iv been Busy, however one thing I forgot was to update you on CWTE (christmas with the enemy) ok well new "trailer" more alot at the new titles and cartoon style, more realistic, how Im going to animate it is anouther matter XD but I look forward to it!.

As you can see a 3d TARDIS created & animated in lightwave, modle created by the brilliant Richard B. who Iv yet to creadit in the video, along with composer oh dear, I must get that done asap!

any who the logo was created by the one and only Rob Semenoff, I used the logo he uploaded to his website, and I then changed the colour in after effects  Wink see I can sort of animate in lightwave, but Iv not mastered moderling, I need to read some tutorials and have a play around me thinks.

So all them eliment together created the video you can see and (hopfully) enjoy  Smiley

Christmas with the Enemy Part 3 - Bit 1
FINNISHED! YAY!
Im having a bit of a break from animating it as some of the animation was rushed and i fear may look a'bit sloppy,
so Iv been having fun doing other things the last week or so,

any who enough of me woffaling, time to show you the part!
I hope you enjoy and comments and critisizams are welcome so long as they help me improve Wink

Yes Im still aiming for an Anime style of animation
and im not even close to OtaKing77077's style of animation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqR8A8ecKWo But hey, weve all gotta start somewhere  Cheesy

Enjoy!

Quite well done. I only had a chance to peek at a bit of it and without sound.

A design change partway through? Okay ... fair enough ...

You should ditch the sketchy look on the Daleks. Daleks should have mechanical, clean, straight lines and perfect curves. Done with CGI assistance when possible.

I miss the telltale wobbles of Anime Studio, and your longer-haired Doctor's head seems not quite attached to his neck in this new style, when he moves about. I'm sure the general public will prefer the straight-line motion you've done here instead, as they're used to Flash, but I actually liked it better before.
