Tea, that's usually how it goes with any production - not enough time and money to do it justice. Thats why fan projects sometimes look brilliant - labours of love with no deadlines to finish it by!

Oh yes, you can't compare them. There is a guy here who has been working on the Web of Fear for nearly a decade now.. Smiley

10 Years? That would be worse than trying to complete Duke Nukem Forever. Can you imagine what it looked like at the start of the project and how stuff had to change when tech advanced?

This guy took five years to turn out this little gem. Easily as good as a Pixar short.

cheers CB, working on 'Web' has been fun and just to set it straight its been 5 years Smiley and in that time most of the work done was in the first six months. I've been a bit busy with the digs in thailand, starting a family (twins) building a small business and recovering from back problems. Not forgetting working out how to use all the software from scratch - i'm not a student or in the cg business, and here is an early shot from the radio room made in 2004 - hasn't changed much Smiley
and a rare montage of my work space, all in about 3 cubic metres

That was amazing. He has a 'making of' thread on BlenderArtists (but I think he made it in C4D  Undecided  ), but I've not actually seen it before.

I got into 3D because of my fascination with Pixar and Aardman. I always wanted to make a little short. I've  been planning one for ages (non-Who related) but I kind of got side-tracked into modelling.

One of the things putting me off is that it typically takes several years to put one together. Exceptions are the Blender Open Movie projects like Big Buck Bunny where they basically kidnap a group of artists and lock them in a building in the Netherlands till it's done. But from what I've heard, it's a long,  lonely journey as a CG animator.
