The WHO's Who of the Power of the Daleks Team.
Well, before we can start anything on this project, I think it's important that we know who has what skills in what areas. Some people might be better at certain elements and software.

I know we all know one another, but there might be people joining the team, who don't. To be honest, sometimes it gets just a little blurred in my mind what everyone skills are.

So, if everyone just wants to introduce themselves, just mention what skills you have, what software you are competent in using. And what software you can use. There is a difference, for instance, I can use Poser, I have it, I know most of the tools, but I can't efficiently use the workflow.

I'll start off.

Name - Colonel Barker - aka - Aaron J Climas

Experience- I am a third year 3D Animation student, currently studying an Advanced Diploma of CGI and Visual Effects.

Software - I am trained in Using Maya, Fusion 5.1, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Avid, Photoshop, Flash.

Also - I can also use Poser.

I am currently spending this term concentrating on character animation, facial rig setup and texturing.

Personally, I would like to work on lip-sync and facial animation on the project, I prefer to avoid texturing and rendering. However, I do consider myself a reasonable compositor.

Name: Marc Taylor

Rank: Wannabe

Experience: Home user, ex-original W3D member Smiley

Software: After initially working in 3DS and then pottering a bit in C4D I have now got used to Maya and love it to bits. I don't think I would have improved so much in 3D modelling without Maya, the UI is just so great and easy to get into (that said, I haven't tried MEL yet... UGH!) Smiley

Skills: I can make good sets and props, I can do animations. I'm not so good with organics, but I think that given a complete model I could learn to rig it and then animate it relatively easily. I can also do some reasonable texturing.

I have an almost complete Hartnel/ Troughton/ early-Pertwee console and some accurate walls. I haven't managed to make the "wallpaper" roundels yet... The console basically just needs some decent texturing and painting the right colour. I think its a little TOO green at the moment. *mental note... photoshop eye dropper on POTD photos...*

Any questions, feel free to ask. Cheesy

Name: Simon Ayers

Rank: Wanawannabe

Software: Used POV-Ray briefly many, many years ago.  Now I use Cinema 4D 9.5 and have done for about 1 3/4 years.  I can also use (with varying degrees of experience) Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator.  I also have Poser and Bryce 5.5 but haven't done much more than dabbled with them.

Skills: I think I'm not too bad at producing sets from reference photographs.  I've also done quite a bit of animation of static items like Daleks.  I'm currently practising character rigging and animation although as this is in Cinema 4D I'm not sure how well this will port to other software (Maya).  I'm also a bit of a newbie when it comes to texturing but I'm in the process of learning BodyPaint 3D.

I have already made several sets and props from the Power Of The Daleks as well as an accurate Dalek model.  I think initially I could help create the remainder of the required sets and I could produce animations for the first layout pass of the project.  Particularly bits inside the capsule as I have a lot of that already animated.
I am considering switching to Maya but if I do it will have to be after Christmas as until then I won't be able to afford it (although I work for a University so I might be able to get some kind of discount).  I've just downloaded the PLE so it is something worth considering as an investment.

Name: Garrett Gilchrist.

I draw 2D caricatures, and do 2D animation. I have some pathetic experience in Poser and 3D Studio Max, but I don't do 3d animation really. I'm very good in Photoshop and at film editing. I prefer to be paid for my work.

I've also directed 8 low budget feature films and over 30 shorts.
